Sustainability First Approach
L’IDÉE is a champion of sustainability; keeping it at the core of everything they do. They believe in slow fashion–ensuring all their designs are made using high-quality fabric that is durable and stylish. Their designs are timeless and made to last.
L’IDÉE uses locally sourced fabrics to design their collections in order to avoid increasing their carbon footprint. This effect also helps support small family-owned businesses and ensure their production practices remain ethical.
L’IDÉE means ‘the idea’ in French. Founder Breeana translates it to a woman of multiple layers. Working with pleated fabrics, she designs feminine silhouettes that flatter the body. Each garment is designed using 100% polyester to ensure that it can be recycled in the future. Any leftover fabric during production is utilised to make small accessories or included in their packaging–ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
“We feel that beauty shouldn’t harm the environment and can be a powerful tool for investing in our future.”
The brand releases collections that are fluid yet sculptural at the same time, available in bright, vibrant colours. All the garments are pleated, making them lightweight and their fluid movements create the perfect feminine silhouettes.
The History of L’IDÉE
Co-founded by Breeana Smith and Luliia Levdokymenko, L’IDÉE first began as a concept fashion brand. Since then, the brand has grown exponentially and made a name for itself across three different continents.
Breeana often credits her 5 years spent in Europe as inspiration and leverage for the concept of L’IDÉE. In Paris and the South of Italy, the desire to represent women and their form serves as an inspiration for how garments are created. The idea behind the signature fabric manipulation that the brand is known for came to Perth-born Breeana Smith when she was on a trip to Paris. She was given her grandma’s vintage pleated skirt; the garment led to the idea of what is now a successful fashion enterprise. Breeana partnered up with close friend Iuliia Levdokymenko and launched L’IDÉE.
Today, the brand is known for their unapologetic use of colour along with the use of pleated fabrics in all their designs. Decidedly feminine, extremely fun, and utterly fashionable–what more can you ask for?
